Human rights violations. They took my heart medication from me and I ended up having heart failure they called 911 instead of giving me my heart meds told me I didn’t have right to my nitroglycerin

They wanted me to take off my clothes and refused to give them back. Gave me clothes that didn't fit. They confiscated my phone. You're not allowed to have one according to them. I walked off the property and was told I had to leave. They said walking off the property is prohibited. Nobody told me the rules. Poorly ran facility

They have a lgbtq+ safe space sticker on the door, that place is anything but. I was called a freak and the same man verbally threatened me, right in front of mellisa fett, (the best isk worker ever) she completely took his side, even though he lunged at me and she had to hold him back. Kicked me out and let him taunt me from a distance as I waited for the police to arrive. Shame on you mellisa and oakland house!

It's a shelter with a mental health base, a place to stay to help get on your feet. Staff are ko0l people, will talk to you and assist you as long as you show the same respect.. Just remember they are not there to serve you but, to help you. They understand you are going through something so, you don't have to be rude. They help with housing, you have to prove your looking for housing also, one on one conversations with your assigned counselor. Had group sessions, chores like any other shelter, I shared a room a with a ko0l older woman. Clean, decent, and get to do your laundry on days your room is scheduled to. If you do your part it works, can't just think it's all Oakland House responsibility when, their working with a building full of also homeless or/and disabled people. I know there are some other rules, I can't recall at the moment but, as always there is a curfew. Was 5yrs since I was there so I don't know how much has changed.

They act like they care but im 38 weeks pregnant stayed there for a lil over a week they kicked me out due to the fact that I didn't have a ride back from the hospital with it being so late at night
